PROTEÇÃO DO PACIENTE DURANTE EXAMES RADIOGRÁFICOS ODONTOLÓGICOS: RECOMENDAÇÕES ATUAIS

Introdução: O uso de proteção plumbífera em radiografias odontológicas sempre foi considerado consenso e prática padrão, porém vem sendo questionado em diretrizes recentes. Objetivo: Confrontar o artigo 'Patient shielding during dentomaxillofacial radiography' com a literatura especializada, analisando argumentos pró e contra o uso obrigatório de aventais de chumbo e protetores de tireoide. Método: Pesquisa bibliográfica indexados no PubMed e na língua inglesa com posicionamentos oficiais, guias, consensos e revisões críticas. Resultados: A literatura mostra tendência para a descontinuação gradativa do uso rotineiro da proteção plumbífera, priorizando a colimação e parâmetros otimizados de acordo com o conceito ALADAIP. Conclusão: Há convergência das diretrizes atuais para abolir a proteção plumbífera de rotina, exceto em situações específicas.
