The TYPES AND CAUSES OF FEMALE URINARY INCONTINENCE

INTRODUCTION: Urinary incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine through the urethra. Most common disorder in females, which can manifest itself after menopause as in younger women. Enuresis has different types and causes, generating discomfort and future complications in women's health. The objective of the study is to evaluate the types and causes of urinary incontinence and point out the lack of communication due to embarrassment that women have.METHODOLOGY or METHODS: This is a summary of a bibliographical review systematic. The information was entered through the Hospital Brasília and Library portal Virtual Health (VHL). The main topic was urinary incontinence, women's health and quality of life. Type of study, risk factors observational study. Year range of publication was the last 5 years.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS: Most of the research carried out states that the for every two women, only one man is affected, that is, UI is more common in women. In Brazil, although many women do not report this problem, it is estimated that 11 to 23% of the female population is incontinent. The prevalence increases with aging: between 50 and 75 years old it is 20 to 35% women and after 75 years old it is 25 to 50%. Much is discussed the causes, being obesity, pregnancy, chronic cough (smokers), postpartum, accident with perineum injury, presence of tumors, surgical procedures that may interfere with pelvic floor muscles, among others. Furthermore, most women are embarrassed or afraid of judgment due to lack of knowledge on the subject. THE enuresis can be classified into stress, urgency, mixed, overflow and nocturnal. It may later cause complications, in addition to the physical effects of the disease. still affects individuals psychologically, as it interferes with quality of life and can cause depression and influence sexual life by generating discomfort for the patient.
CONCLUSION: This study addressed the high rate of women who have urinary incontinence and do not seek medical assistance due to lack of knowledge or embarrassment, in addition, the importance of knowing and understanding the types and causes of of the UI. It is essential that women are aware of the problems future conditions that may be caused by the disease and impairments in the present, in order to break the prejudice established by society, with the aim of making it natural so that women can take the necessary measures before the situation worsens.
