O BISFOSFONATO (BF) T�M SIDO INDICADO NO TRATAMENTO DE DOEN�AS COM ORIGEM NO METABOLISMO ÓSSEO, COMO: DOEN�A DE PAGET, OSTEOPOROSE, HIPERCALCEMIA, MIELOMA M�LTIPLO E OUTROS. ENTRE SEUS EFEITOS ADVERSOS ESTÁ A INDU��O DA OSTEONECROSE DA MAXILA E MAND�BULA, ESTE TIPO DE EFEITO APARECE EM PACIENTES QUE FAZEM TERAPIA CR�NICA COM OS BFS, E QUANDO ESSES SÃO SUBMETIDOS A CIRURGIAS ODONTOLÓGICAS. ESTE TRABALHO DE REVISÃO DE LITERATURA IR� DISCUTIR ASPECTOS RELEVANTES DA OSTEONECROSE DA MAXILA E MAND�BULA RESULTADAS DO USO DE BFS, BEM COMO SUAS INDICA��ES E FATORES DE RISCO.
