ESTE ESTUDO APRESENTA UMA ANÁLISE DOS FRAGMENTOS QUE AINDA EST�O PRESENTES NESTA REGI�O, IDENTIFICANDO CARACTERISTICAS RELACIONADAS A FISIONOMIA E PRESEN�A DE VEGETAÇÃO COM FORMA��ES FLORESTAIS, COMO AS DESCRITAS POR SAINT HILAIRE, VIAJANTE NATURALISTA QUE ESTEVE NA �REA EM 1826. UTILIZANDO-SE DE TÉCNICAS DE GEOPROCESSAMENTO, ESCOLHERAM-SE OS FRAGMENTOS MAIS REPRESENTATIVOS PARA A VISITA E AVALIA��O. OS RESULTADOS OBSERVADOS MOSTRAM QUE OS PROCESSOS DE FRAGMENTA��O USAM DE MADEIRA E USO DO SOLO, CONVERTERAM AS FORMA��ES FLORESTAIS EM MATAS DE CERRADO ANTROPIZADO, COM ELEVADA PERTURBA��O E PROCESSO DE FRAGMENTA��O. A CRIA��O DA COL�NIA AGR�COLA NACIONAL DE GOI�S, AS ATIVIDADES DE AGROPECU�RIA E EXTRA��O VEGETAL FORAM DETERMINANTES NO PROCESSO DE DESFLORESTAMENTO E FRAGMENTA��O DESTAS FORMA��ES FLORESTAIS.
