PERCUTANEOUS VALVOPLASTY ARTERIAL COMPLICATIONS: CASE REPORT

AORTIC STENOSIS (AOS) IS THE BLOCKAGE OF THE LEFT VENTRICULAR OUTFLOW TRACT BY THE CALCIFICATION OF THE VALVULAR ARTERIES. IT IS THE MOST COMMON ACQUIRED AORTIC VALVE DISEASE, ITS PREDOMINANT CAUSES BEING CALCIFICATION OF A BICUSPID AORTIC VALVE, CALCIFICATION OF A TRICUSPID AORTIC VALVE, RHEUMATIC FEVER AND CONGENITAL AOS. THE STANDARD THERAPY FOR AORTIC VALVE STENOSIS CONSISTS OF VALVAR EXCHANGE BY A SOURCE OF PROTEIN (BIOLOGICAL OR MECHANICAL). THE TRANSCATHETER AORTIC VALVE (TAVI) IMPLANT HAS A BALLOON EXPANDABLE STRUCTURE AND A VALVE. THIS PROCEDURE IS AN OPTION FOR SURGICAL REPLACEMENT OF THE AORTIC VALVE (SAVR) AND IS INDICATED AS LESS INVASIVE WHEN COMPARED TO SAVR. IT HAS BENEFICIAL EFFECTS ON MORTALITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE THE POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS AFTER PERCUTANEOUS VALVULOPLASTY, RELATED TO AGE, SEX AND INCIDENCE FACTORS. THE REPORT IN QUESTION BECOMES RELEVANT DUE TO THE LACK OF STUDIES ON SPECIFIC AORTIC VALVE STENOSIS, THE CONSEQUENCE IN YOUNG PEOPLE AND THE RESULTS OBTAINED AFTER THE TREATMENT OF VASCULAR LESIONS CAUSED BY THE PERCUTANEOUS VALVULOPLASTY PROCEDURE. THE PARTICULARITY OF THE CASE WAS OBSERVED SINCE IT IS A FEMALE PATIENT, YOUNG, WITH A PERIPHERAL VASCULAR COMPLICATION AND WHO RECOVERED QUICKLY WITH A TREATMENT BASED MAINLY ON THE PRACTICE OF PHYSICAL EXERCISES REGULARLY.
