Abstract

THE APPLICATION OF PESTICIDES IS ONE OF THE MAIN FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GROWTH OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY, AND THE QUALITY OF THE APPLICATION IS DECISIVE FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE CROP. SEVERAL FACTORS INFLUENCE THIS QUALITY, AMONG THEM, THE SPRAY NOZZLES STAND OUT, AS THEY DETERMINE THE FLOW AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE SYRUP IN THE AREA. WHEN USED FOR MANY HOURS, THE TIPS WEAR OUT, INCREASING THE FLOW OF THE SYRUP, WHICH CAUSES DIRECT IMPACTS ON PRODUCTION COSTS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS WORK WAS TO EVALUATE THE INFLUENCE OF WEAR ON THE DEPOSITION PROFILE AND FLOW RATE OF SPRAY TIPS. TTI TIPS 11003 WERE EVALUATED IN FOUR CONSERVATION STATES (NEW, AND WITH 400, 600 AND 800 HOURS OF USE). THE EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED INDOORS, AND THE TIPS WERE TESTED ON A DISTRIBUTION TABLE WITH 20 5 CM WIDE CHANNELS. THE SPRAY PRESSURE USED IN THE TESTS WAS 3 BAR. THE TIPS WERE EVALUATED INDIVIDUALLY, IN TEN REPLICATES FOR EACH LEVEL OF WEAR, AND TOGETHER, USING THREE TIPS FROM EACH CONSERVATION STATE, IN THREE REPLICATES. FLOW DATA FROM THE INDIVIDUAL AND SIMULATED TESTS WERE SUBMITTED TO ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE USING THE GLM PROCEDURE, FOLLOWED BY THE DUNNETT TEST TO COMPARE EACH LEVEL OF WEAR WITH THE NEW TIPS. IN THE INDIVIDUAL TESTS THE DISTRIBUTION PROFILE WAS SIMILAR AT ALL EVALUATED WEAR LEVELS, AND THE FLOW DID NOT SHOW SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES. THE COEFFICIENT OF VARIATION (CV%) OF ALL THE WORN ENDS WAS GREATER THAN 7%, AND THE TIPS WITH 800 HOURS OF USE HAD THE HIGHEST COEFFICIENT. THE TIPS WITH 800 HOURS OF USE OBTAINED THE WORST RESULTS OF UNIFORMITY OF THE DEPOSITION PROFILE, AND THE AVERAGE FLOW RATE OF THE SIMULATED APPLICATION WAS HIGHER AT THE TIPS WITH 400 AND 800 HOURS OF USE.
