THE MANGO TREE (MANGIFERA INDICA L.) IS A SPECIES WIDELY DISSEMINATED IN BRAZIL AND HAS BEEN STUDIED FOR ITS POSSIBLE ALLELOPATHIC POWER. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS WORK WAS TO EVALUATE THE INFLUENCE OF AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF MANGO LEAVES (MANGIFERA INDICA L. VAR. BOURBON), SEED GERMINATION AND LETTUCE SEEDLINGS DEVELOPMENT (LACTUCA SATIVA L. VAR. AMERICANA GRANDES LAGOS 659). THE EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT AT THE LABORATORY OF SEED ANALYSIS OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF MINAS GERAIS - ITUIUTABA UNIT. THE EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN WAS A COMPLETELY RANDOMIZED BLOCK WITH TEN TREATMENTS, DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS: AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF DRIED LEAVES OF HOSE AND GREEN EXTRACT OF GREEN LEAVES OF HOSE, WITH FOUR CONCENTRATIONS FOR EACH ONE: 0, 25, 50, 75 AND 100%, WITH FOUR REPLICATES PER TREATMENT, AND 50 SEEDS PER PLOT. THE GERMINATION (%) AND THE LENGTH, IN CENTIMETERS, OF THE RADICLE AND SHOOT OF THE SEEDLINGS WERE EVALUATED. THE DATA WERE SUBMITTED TO ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE BY THE F TEST AND THE MEANS COMPARED BY THE TUKEY TEST. ALL THE EVALUATED PARAMETERS WERE AFFECTED BY THE TREATMENTS TESTED, IN COMPARISON WITH THE CONTROL, AND THE HIGHER THE CONCENTRATION OF THE EXTRACTS OF DRY AND GREEN LEAVES, THE LOWER THE GERMINATION PERCENTAGE OF THE SEEDS, AND THE LOWER THE ROOT AND SHOOT LENGTH OF THE SEEDLINGS OF LETTUCE.
