TOXIC AND FLAMMABLE GASES DETECTION SYSTEM WITH ALERT SIGNAL AND ACTIVATION OF EXHAUST FANS USING ARDUINO

Abstract

WITH THE INCREASE IN TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT IN MOST INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES, THE INDUSTRIAL MARKET HAD TO REINVENT ITSELF TO ENSURE A COMFORTABLE AND SAFE OPERATION FOR ITS WORKERS. THIS CONSEQUENT AUTOMATION OF INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES PROVIDED THE INCREASE OF AN ENVIRONMENT MORE CONDUCIVE TO CONTACT WITH GASES AND OPPORTUNE TO POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS, THUS, THE ADDITION OF NEW PROJECTS THAT HAVE EFFICIENCY IS CRUCIAL. THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY IS THE ELABORATION OF A PROJECT FOR THE DETECTION OF TOXIC AND FLAMMABLE GASES WITH APPLICATION IN DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS, DEVELOPED AT THE TECHNOLOGICAL CENTER OF THE FACULDADE EVANGÉLICA DE GOIAN�SIA. A PROTOTYPE WITH THE USE OF SENSORS AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET, THESE BEING THE MQ-2 SENSOR CAPABLE OF DETECTING CONCENTRATIONS OF COMBUSTIBLE GASES AND SMOKE IN THE AIR, THE MQ-3 SENSOR CAPABLE OF DETECTING ALCOHOL AND ETHANOL VAPORS, A SENSOR WIDELY USED IN BREATHALYZER AND THE MQ-135 SENSOR CAPABLE OF DETECTING CONCENTRATIONS OF GASES HARMFUL TO AIR QUALITY. ARRANGED IN A GLASS BOX, THEY CAPTURE THE CONCENTRATION OF TOXIC GASES EXISTING IN A CLOSED ENVIRONMENT, IN ORDER TO DEFINE THE BEST SENSOR FOR THE DETECTION OF GASES, TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT TO CHOOSE THE SENSOR FOR THE ASSEMBLY OF THE PROTOTYPE, WHICH AS SOON AS THE CONCENTRATION OF GASES REACH A VALUE THAT IS HARMFUL TO HUMAN LIFE, CAPTURED BY THE DEFINED SENSOR AND THIS VALUE BEING STIPULATED IN THE PROGRAMMING, THE BUZZER TRIGGERS AN AUDIBLE SIGNAL, ALERT MESSAGES ARE SHOWN ON THE DISPLAY AND THE FAN AND COOLER ARE ACTIVATED. THE HOOD REDUCES THE CONCENTRATION OF THE GAS IN THE ENVIRONMENT, THUS CAUSING THE FUNCTIONS OF THE COMPONENTS TO RETURN TO STATIC DUE TO THE DISPERSION OF THE GAS OBTAINED THROUGH THE EXHAUST. THE PROJECT BEHAVES EFFICIENTLY AND AS EXPECTED AND SOUGHT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE RESEARCH, THE COST OBTAINED FOR THE REALIZATION OF THE PROTOTYPE WAS EXCELLENT THAN EXPECTED, THE VALUE ACHIEVED FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE SET OF COMPONENTS TO CARRY OUT THIS PROJECT WAS REMARKABLE IN RELATION TO THE DEVICES FOUND CURRENTLY, IT CAN BE RESIZED FOR USE IN ENVIRONMENTS WITH RISK OF GAS LEAKS, BEING ONLY NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT AND ADAPT THE CALIBRATION OF THE CHOSEN SENSOR FOR THE DETECTION OF OTHER TYPES OF GASES, BEING CONSTITUTED AS AN OBJECT OF CONSULTATIONS AND FUTURE STUDIES FOR IMPROVEMENT AND APPLICATIONS.
