ELECTRIC POWER HAS BECOME AN INDISPENSABLE RESOURCE FOR PEOPLE'S LIFE AND SURVIVAL DUE TO ITS WIDE RANGE OF USES AND CONVENIENCE. HOWEVER, THE EXCESSIVE AND CONTINUOUS USE OF THIS RESOURCE CAN CAUSE HARMFUL CONSEQUENCES TO THE ECONOMY AND THE ENVIRONMENT. WITH A VIEW TO SAVING ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION, ENERGY EFFICIENCY POLICIES HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED IN VARIOUS SECTORS OF THE INDUSTRY. THIS MEANS REDUCING THE COST AND INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY SUPPLIED, WITHOUT INCREASING ITS GENERATION. IN THIS SENSE, ONE OF THE POSSIBLE MEASURES TO REDUCE ELECTRIC ENERGY CONSUMPTION IS THE RESIZING OF ELECTRIC MOTORS. SUCH A MEASURE PROVIDES AN UPDATE OF THE INDUSTRIAL PARK BY DETERMINING THE SIZE OF THE MOTOR OR ADJUSTING THE SIZE SUITABLE FOR THE OPERATING LOAD. THEREFORE, THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY IS TO EVALUATE THE OPTIMIZATION OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN A COMPANY IN THE SUGAR AND ALCOHOL SECTOR THROUGH THE RESIZING OF ELECTRIC MOTORS. THE METHODOLOGY USED FOR THE PRESENT WORK IS THE CASE STUDY FOR A PLANT IN THE SUGAR AND ALCOHOL SECTOR. THE THEORETICAL FOUNDATION WAS CARRIED OUT THROUGH BOOKS, ACADEMIC ARTICLES, PERIODICALS AND WEBSITES SPECIALIZED IN THE CHOSEN THEME. AFTER CARRYING OUT A SIMULATION FOR THE RESIZING OF 32 MOTORS OF THE INDUSTRIAL PLANT UNDER STUDY, IT WAS POSSIBLE TO SEE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REDUCE ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION BY APPROXIMATELY 15% PER HARVEST PERIOD IN THE INDUSTRY UNDER STUDY.
