Abstract

THE SEARCH FOR NEW DISINFECTION MECHANISMS HAS BECOME A MAJOR GOAL OF HUMANITY DUE TO THE EMERGENCE OF NUMEROUS INFECTIOUS DISEASES TRANSMITTED BY CONTACT ON CONTAMINATED SURFACES. THINKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THE PRESENT WORK AIMED TO: DEVELOP A DISINFECTION MECHANISM IN THE SUPERMARKET CHECKOUT AND PROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT TYPE C ON BANKNOTES. FOR THIS, A WHOLE THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK WAS PRESENTED SHOWING THE SPECTRUM OF RADIATION AND EVIDENCING UV RADIATION, MORE PRECISELY TYPE C LIGHT, WHICH IS THE MAIN POINT OF THE WORK. THE HISTORY OF RADIATION, THE BEHAVIOR OF LIGHT IN GENERAL, EQUATIONS OF LIGHT IRRADIATION AND ULTRAVIOLET DOSE WERE CITED. TO PROVE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LIGHT, A LABORATORY TEST WAS PERFORMED TO IDENTIFY MICROORGANISMS ON BANKNOTES AND THE POWER OF LIGHT. USING A 3D SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWS MODELING OF OBJECTS, A PROTOTYPE OF THE BOX WITH THE UV-C LAMP WAS ELABORATED. FINALLY, PHOTOS AND GRAPHS OF THE DISINFECTION RESULTS USING LIGHT WERE DEMONSTRATED, PROVING THE DISINFECTION OF THE SURFACE OF THE PAPER MONEY.
