Abstract

The development of a building's structural design requires crucial criteria and steps to ensure its sustainability and safety. For the structural designer, the first component usually dimensioned is the slabs, which are responsible for bearing the loads of the building's use and transmitting them to the other structural elements. Although manual calculations have been widely used for a long time, computer software has gained ground mainly because it speeds up the preparation of projects, but results in an increase in the consumption of materials due to the over-dimensioning of structures. In this context, this work aims to carry out a comparative study between the analytical calculation (manual) and the calculation using the Eberick software, for solid slabs, in order to determine which provides more reliable results for the development of this structural element. In this comparative study, the results of the calculations carried out manually based on NBR 6118/2023 and those carried out using the Eberick software will be analyzed. The support reactions, bending moments, steel area and deflections of the slabs of a building will be evaluated. It is hoped that at the end of this work the results will show the numerical differences between the two methods, indicating the one that presents the best structural behavior and the most economical design.
