Abstract

The demand for nickel in the industrial production sectors has been increasing systematically in recent years, driven by demands for clean energy, which, in turn, are guided by the transition process in the global energy matrix, stimulated, mainly, by the environmental issues that plague the planet. As an example, we can mention global warming generated, in part, by the emission of greenhouse gases, which is one of the most debated and studied issues in contemporary times, where quick and effective solutions are sought. In this context, one of the sectors that most contributes to the emission of greenhouse gasses is transport, more specifically vehicles that burn gasoline, diesel and alcohol. Data indicates that the future of this transition process, as well as other sectors of the industry, may become uncertain due to demand versus supply of nickel in the futures market with some countries, such as China, listing it as a critical mineral due to its reserves and explorations. Through a careful descriptive bibliographic analysis, the basis was provided to evaluate the market dynamics of this mineral.
